I wish I had seen this website, http://www.directstartv.com/, before I signed up for our last TV service. Luckily, we are out of that terrible contract now. We were under contract for this TV provider who was definitely overcharging us, was super unreliable and definitely had terrible customer service. They just totally screwed us over and did not care if we were happy with the service or not until out contract was ready to expire. By then, it really was too late to salvage the situation. We switched over to Direct TV and I have never been happier with our services, I swear. It would have saved so much frustration, time and effort if I had just seen their webpage sooner! Then I would not have had to deal with all of that bad stuff and just gone on ahead living my life. I know it seems silly to be upset over TV, but the provider just seriously had no sense of how to do its job. We were drawn to them because they were the absolute cheapest. Probably a bad buying practice to use all the time.

Doing her part

I met the cutest little girl today in the parking lot of Albertsons, she was no more than 10 and she was raising money of JDF (Junior Diabetes Foundation) and she was just the most talkative little thing. And told me all about her being a diabetic and how she is on an insulin pump. Too cute. And told me about when she had to go to the hospital and what have you. Broke my heart.

I look at children who have medical problems and just gush over them because its hard enough being a kid, let alone having medical problems. I really hope that the FDA finds some kind of a cure someday soon!

Disney’s Sexy Side

Ok so growing up we were all bombarded by the lure of the beautiful Disney Princess who had to overcome wicked step mothers, poisoned apples, and a whole array of what ever else dear ol’ uncle Walt could dream up.
Well I don’t know if Walt Disney could have ever dreamed seeing his men fleshed out the way that artist David Kawena has, but I sure do thank him for doing so. Yes these images are a bit on the Homo-Erotic side, but so are 99% of male model magazines now days.

New content being added

Hey everyone I just wanted to let you know that I am adding new information to the page under the Resource link for the Olympic Peninsula. The information being added is from the Olympic Peninsula Senior Resource Guide 2012.
Even though it says that it is for Seniors, I have seen a lot of useful information in regards to programs that help all age ranges. I will have all the information posted within the next few days, but for now there are pages covering the Islands, Clallum, Kitsap, Jefferson, and Skagit counties.

If you know of a resource or something that should be posted or added to the above links please email me and let me know about it and I will check it out.

Jesses Problem

My older brother Jesse has always been the black sheep in the family. He was the typical rebellious teen-ager who cut class and drank, did drugs, and was in and out of Juvenile Hall all the time.
He cost my parents thousands of dollars in court fees, and civil lawsuits. He stole cars, and vandalized property, and even set a small fire in the boys locker room, causing him to be expelled from school. Jesse ran away when he was 15 and was living on the streets of Birmingham. Every time my mom and dad would bring him home he would just leave again.
The last time he left, my dad and him got into a fist fight. I being only 13 at the time didn’t fully understand my parents reaction to Jesse wanting to leave, and why they were always yelling at him. It wasn’t until some time later that I learnt of how serious the situation was.

When I was 28 Jesse surprised us by coming home for Christmas. My mom tearfully greeted him, while my father sat on the couch silently. I almost didn’t recognize him. The drugs had completely changed his appearance. We awkwardly fumbled through Christmas Dinner. He looked like a hobo, with his black finger nails, dirty dreadlocked hair, and unshaven face.
He said that he had come home to ask for help, that he was tired of living in the streets and being a junkie.

My parents suggest that he check himself into a drug abuse rehab center. He held his head low and said that he would do what ever was expected of him this time. My parents looked all around for a local rehab center until they came across Birmingham rehab center. Their facilities were nice, and they had a residential inpatient program which allowed him to stay onsite to receive treatment. They enrolled him in a six week treatment class, where he received a multidisciplinary assessment to help him treat is addiction. They even offered us family counseling.

The rehab center even offered a gym where he could work out and regain some of his weight loss with healthy exercise. Throughout the six weeks we could visibly notice the change in Jesses appearance and the attitude that he had. He is now doing much better, and is in out patient treatment. He has started attending school for addiction counseling. If it weren’t for the Bradford Health Services in Birmingham, I don’t know where my brother would be now. It was because of their caring and knowledgeable staff that he is back in our lives.

New Years Resolutions

So now that its 2012 what do you have planned…what resolutions will you keep and which will you break?

Trust me neither one of these are as bad, sad, and boring as they sound.

It is a super fun game that doesn’t make you feel bad or sad about the choices you’ve made, it simply helps you out to becoming a thinner healthier you. Order it on Half.com or Amazon.com. You can probably get it on Half.com for about $5.00 the game comes with a pedometer so make sure the one you buy has it, otherwise you cant do some of the games.
