About

Hello, my name is Michael Peterson. I am a 31-year-old male who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes June 26th 2008. I was rushed to the hospital with DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis).

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a complication of diabetes that occurs when the body cannot use sugar (glucose) as a fuel source because the body has no insulin or not enough insulin, and fat is used instead. Byproducts of fat breakdown, called ketones, build up in the body. Well I had lost 15% of my lean body muscle and became extremely sick. It is now going on year two of my having been diagnosed and now I am making the conscious decision to start living better. I have created this blog as a way to help myself cope with the whole process of dieting, and trying to live a sugar-free lifestyle. My only hope is that this blog will someday become a tool that others can look to, and find help and inspiration.

It takes some time but we can all make the changes in our lives, and it’s just one step in a lifetime journey.
